Kosmetae Academy was established in 1989 and played a pioneering role in launching the aesthetics industry in the Fraser Valley. From its inception, the Academy’s founders set a high standard for educational excellence and were quickly recognized for their valuable contributions to the cosmetology community. Through their vision and leadership, Kosmetae Academy graduates have gone on to set benchmarks for quality and professionalism throughout British Columbia and beyond. They are widely respected for their European-standard training and are sought after by spas and salons across North America.

In 1996, Kosmetae Academy was invited to present seminars in Hunan Province, China, an invitation we were honoured to accept. Among the conference attendees were university representatives and a plastic surgeon, whose presence added distinction to the event. We continue to value the professional relationships and meaningful memories formed during that visit.

Kosmetae Academy was among the first private institutions to receive accreditation in 2000. We are also a Designated Learning Institution (DLI). Our dedicated instructors maintain professional excellence by attending national and international conferences and continually updating the curriculum to reflect current industry developments. This ensures that students receive training in the latest techniques and best practices. Kosmetae’s commitment to educational quality was further recognized in 2004 with its first Business Excellence Nomination.

The Academy’s detailed and comprehensive instruction gives students a distinct competitive advantage. This was clearly demonstrated at the 2006 BC Skills Competition, where four Kosmetae Academy students competed and returned with twelve medals, including a gold medal in Aesthetics and a gold medal in Nail Technology.

In 2007, Kosmetae Academy received accreditation from the International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC), providing graduates with opportunities to work in more than thirty countries. In August 2013, during an ITEC qualifying examination, an international examiner praised the exceptional quality of work presented by Kosmetae students, noting that it exceeded what she had observed at other schools in Canada and internationally. This excellence in education was again recognized with a Business Excellence Nomination in 2013.

Kosmetae Academy’s student body includes individuals who are beginning their professional journey as well as those pursuing a new career path. Our students come from diverse backgrounds and experiences. Some progress through their studies with ease, while others overcome challenges such as learning disabilities or English as a second language. We are proud that, through dedication and support, our students have achieved success and established careers in prestigious spas, salons, on cruise lines, and as entrepreneurs.
