Refund Policy

This Refund Policy applies to all students enrolled in programs delivered by this institution. 
The institution will not accept any tuition or related fees until the student has received a copy of this policy.

Whenever a refund is due, the institution will issue the refund within 30 days of the event that a refund is required.

A refund must be issued when/if any of the following occurs:

  1. The Institution receives written notice of withdrawal from the student.
  1. The Institution receives a copy of a study permit refusal (where applicable).
  1. The Institution issues a notice of dismissal to the student. For the purposes of this Policy, in all cases where a student is dismissed from the program, the refund provisions contained herein shall apply, where applicable, and the effective date for all refund calculations shall be the date on which the notice of dismissal is delivered to the student.
  1. The Registrar orders a refund because a student was admitted to an approved program without meeting admission requirements, provided the student did not misrepresent their abilities.
  1. The Institution fails to provide a work-experience component (if applicable) before thirty (30) days of the program's end date. 
  2. The student does not attend any of the first thirty percent (30%) of instructional hours.

Refunds for Textbooks, Materials, Equipment, and Uniforms

The institution must refund fees for textbooks or other course materials, including equipment and uniforms, when:

  1. The student withdraws,
  1. The institution dismisses the student, or
  2. The student does not attend any of the first 30% of instructional hours. 

Evidence and Records 

The student record must contain:

  1. Evidence that the refund was issued (e.g., cancelled cheque or transfer record), and
  1. The refund calculation.

Refunds apply to the amount paid or payable under the enrolment contract, after any discounts, scholarships, or rebates. 

Refund Rules for Approved Programs

(In-class, Combined Delivery, or Synchronous Distance Delivery) **

Before Program Start Date

If withdrawal or dismissal occurs:

Within 7 days of signing the enrolment contract AND before the start date:

  1. 100% refund of tuition and all related fees (except registration & administration fees).

After 7 days of signing but before program start date:

  1. Institutions may retain up to 10% of tuition, to a maximum of $1,000.

After Program Start Date

Refund amounts depend on how much of the program has been completed.

Within 7 days after program start date:

  1. Institutions may retain up to 10%, max $1,000.

At least 30 days before program start date (after signing):

  1. Institutions may retain up to 10%, max $1,000.

Less than 30 days before program start date (after signing):

  1. Institutions may retain up to 20%, max $1,300.

After Instruction Has Begun

Refunds are based on instructional hours completed for which the student received Instruction:

  1. 0–10% completed → Institution may retain up to 10%
  1. >10% to <30% completed → Institution may retain up to 30%
  1. >30% to <50% completed → Institution may retain up to 50%
  2. >50% completed → No refund owed

No-Show Students

If a student does not attend any of the first 30% of instructional hours:

  • Institutions may retain up to 50% of tuition.

Study Permit Refusal (International Students)

If the student receives a study permit refusal before 30% of instructional hours would have been completed, and the student has not requested additional Letters of Acceptance:

  • 100% refund of tuition and related fees (excluding application fee). 

A copy of the study permit refusal must be submitted to the Institution.

Refunds for Programs That Do Not Require Approval

(Tuition $4,000+ and not solely distance delivery) **

A refund is required when:

  • The student does not attend the program, AND
  • Withdrawal notice or study permit refusal is received within 30 days after the program's start date (later of contract or LOA).

Refund = 100% tuition and related fees, excluding application fees.

All refunds shall be processed and issued within thirty (30) days and shall comply with the Private Training Act Policy Manual, including all regulatory amendments effective January 1, 2025.
